The automotive industry is a very competitive field. Many have ventured in it. A lot have succeeded and a handful lost. Vehicle makes and models that are not up to par with the buying public’s expectations die out. It’s lucky if some of them get revived. So, I guess it’s going to be a very lucky day for the Lagonda when it finally gets back into production. For those who haven’t heard of the Lagonda before, this is actually a brand of luxury cars under the Aston Martin brand.
The first batch and original Lagonda cars were produced from 1978 up to 1989. This car was the first production car to make use of a computer management system and digital instrument panel. But this feature was what also made the car go extinct. These supposedly advanced features were prone to frequent failure. The cost of maintenance and repair is just too much. It’s no wonder not many opted to buy it. Aside from those features, the first Lagonda cars were equipped with V8 carburated engines and a 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission by Chrysler. But all of these are things of the past. Aston Martin has learned its lesson and is ready to make the best Lagonda ever.
Aston Marti’s date fro the release of the new Lagonda models is 2012. Two models are already being prepared for production. The focus of these new cars is luxury and speed. They must be stylish, comfy, and plush. Taking you to your destination at the shortest time possible is also another aim. It is reported that they will make use of Aston Martin’s VH platform. One of them will take on a form much similar to Aston martin’s Rapide which is a four-seater model. The other will be like a Mercedes Benz S-class vehicle.
We have to see what the cars will actually look like when they come out of production…in 2012.
